On March 25, Mr. CK Yung, Director of Immigration Division of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai (SHETO) and staff members from the Shandong Liaison Unit of SHETO visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). Prof. Xia Lidong, Vice President of SDUW, received the guests. Representatives from the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Weihai Municipal Government, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of SDUW, and the Student Career Center of SDUW attended the meeting.

Prof. Xia extended a warm welcome to the delegation and affirmed the friendly exchanges between SHETO and SDUW. He said that against the background of internationalization being one of the fundamental strategies of this campus, SDUW should make the best of the academic environment and notable global influence of universities in Hong Kong, and join hands with SHETO to create more chances and platforms for exchange of students and teachers, cooperation of scientific research, etc. Mr. Yung spoke highly of the teaching quality and academic environment of SDUW. He expressed his hope that SHETO and SDUW, like Hong Kong and Weihai, could develop a close relationship by forming an in-depth cooperation in talent exchange and joint science collaboration. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues including 2+2 dual-degree program, study and working policies in Hong Kong, etc.

During the visit, the delegation gave an information session introducing Hong Kong and its relevant study, working and immigration policies as well as its advantages, etc. The auditorium was packed with enthusiastic students who, by the end of the session, raised questions on postgraduate study, career development and life in Hong Kong.
